AdoptionBlogs is once again looking for some great bloggers to cover a variety of topics. Our site covers a wide range of adoption related topics and we are trying to fill some of our current vacancies. Please review the following topics and openings.

  • 3-4 Unplanned Pregnancy bloggers. Bloggers writing for the Unplanned Pregnancy blog will cover a variety of topics including pregnancy information, advice on decision making processes, tips on planning and preparation and information pertinent to both parenting and placement. Adoptive parents are welcome to apply for a position as their input on the matching process of the adoption decision could be of benefit to expectant parents considering relinquishment. Two birth parents are absolutely needed.

Bloggers writing for the Open Adoption blog will cover a large range of information concerning the ins and outs of open adoption. Pre-adoption information as well as post-adoption advice on handling the relationship need to be covered.
  • Birth and adoptive parents are both needed on the Domestic Adoption blog. Bloggers writing for the Domestic Adoption blog will cover the process and emotions that accompany adopting domestically. We’re looking for a balanced view from both adoptive and birth parents so that those researching and making decisions may have a better idea of what to expect.
  • ADOPTEES! We would love to have both an adoptee from the closed and the open eras of adoption. (18+, please.) Topics to cover could include search, reunion, relationships with various sets of parents and extended relatives and the perceptions of adoptees by our society.

I am an independent radio producer for public radio working on a long piece about adoption, all sides of it. Over the past few months, we’ve interviewed several adoptees, adoptive families, a birth mother, a family with four children adopted from China, and two sisters who have a full brother who was placed for adoption before they were born. They found out about him as young adults and have not met him yet.

In terms of interviews we are close to being done BUT we are still in need of birth parents especially birth fathers. We have asked people around these parts who they might know that is a birth father but we’ve turned up no one. We’re wondering if you might want to speak with us, and.or know of a birth father or two who might be willing to be interviewed.

We can arrange to conduct the interview long distance – they can be anywhere really. We won’t use the person’s name. And the interview would take about an hour.

We’re a bit crunched for time. We’d like to do this in the next couple of weeks if possible.

If you’d like more info on us, contact us via info@atlantic.org

    our misssion for this piece:
At its core, adoption reveals the most profound and basic variables of
the human story. As an act of caring, love and bravery, it is an
emphatic and ancient statement about human nature. It raises
fundamental questions about identity with a myriad of stories in the
    answers.

To diminish the myths and surface the complex and delicate realities
of adoption, our goal is to bring first person stories from the
adoption triad into the mainstream via public radio.

To that end, we’re looking for people to talk with us (anonymously)
The interview will be conduct by two producers using a minimum ofequipment (two small recorders). Interviews will take 1 to 2 hours for
    each person.

OUR BIOS will be furnished upon request.
